Hello! Welcome to the final Blog Post of the semester! In this post I am going to show off some of the progress I made, as-well as some of the renders of the biggest projects we took-on as a class. To start things off, here are some renders of the Castle project where I tried my best to recreate Ganon Tower from Ocarina of Time.
I was pretty happy with how this one turned out. It should be pretty fun to recreate now that I am twice as powerful as I was when I created this. Maybe I'll even try my hand at designing some of the newer variations of the tower.
Next on the list, we have the surface design study and the laser cut that was a result of it! I found this project pretty tricky, especially when it came to the technical aspect of making sure all my trimmed lines were able to be hatched. I had a lot of fun trying to conceptualize what to make, but I think I could have maybe pushed it a bit harder. I look forward to experimenting with this in the future and making all sorts of weird vector drawings that I can laser cut into some wood (and possibly other materials.)
Now for the big Kahuna. Reversed engineering an object was no easy task. For my object, I struggled with a lot of stuff and had to redesign aspects of it multiple times, but at the end of the project I was way more confident with Rhino so I can't really complain, this project did haunt my dreams for a while though lol. Moving forward I might try to 3d print some aspects of this just for fun so I can compare it with my original objects physical form.
^ I really liked this shot honestly. Anyways, moving on - here we have the 3D modelled (and yet to be printed) Chess Set! I was excited for this project despite the hundreds of different directions I wanted to take it. At the end of the day I had to creatively compromise with what was actually doable because I had so many strange ideas and takes on what could be a chess set.
Fun fact, the bishop is partially based off my favorite boss battle in Dark Souls 3 (which is not actually very difficult but is my favorite due to aesthetic reasons, including atmosphere, concept and sound.) If you are interested in the boss fight I definitely recommend playing Dark Souls 3 to experience it.
Anyways, thank you for checking out my blog posts, I really appreciate it! And thank you Bryan and my class mates for a wonderful semester.
