OBDF 110 3D PRINTED HOLLOW FORM OBJECT: CONCEPT GENERATION + Ultimate Creation

This project required us to create a self supporting structure and 3D Print it. To do this we must first create 6 preliminary structure ideas in order to prototype for our final print. Here are my first attempts at structures that are self-supporting and hollow.

These were my next set of three and ultimately a core component of what we chose to use for the rocket ship design.

For the next stage in this Project, we were paired up into partners with the goal of creating a harmonious mixture of structure which was accomplished through the combination of my designs and the designs of my group partner Mini Cheung. We decided to go for a free-standing structure that borrowed elements from each of our structures and blended them together into something new, that still had characteristics of our original ideas. This item somewhat resembles a Rocketship, and is a semi-hollow form that incorporates both 1 tier and 2 tier structure concepts. Here are some sketches of the design.

These are the structures my group collaboratively designed. From these two we selected the one we liked the best which was the rocketship. (Shoutout for the other design, I worked really hard on those weird self supporting hollow corner things)

Here is a nice little render of the rocket ship.
Here are test Prints of our object done in Prusa Slicer, this was to see if the creation was structurally sound. I had help from Jessica again on this as I couldn't remember what to look out for.

This is the first shot of our object printing. Looking good so far!

The final Object. The print wasn't perfect but ultimately it looks really cool and accomplished what my group wanted, and I think it looks like a very cool hypothetical rocketship. Lol.
